If you are one of those people who have an increased risk of hypertension and lazy to take medicine, you can try one of the natural foods that can lower blood pressure. One is the beet juice. A recent study revealed that one glass of beet juice effective for lowering blood pressure in those with hypertension.
In this study, Amrita Ahluwalia, a professor of QMUL analyze the effects of beet juice and placebo in 64 participants aged between 18 to 85 years. Half the patients were taking drugs hypertension, but was not successfully treat their hypertension. While half of them have not been taking hypertension medication.
One group was then asked to drink beet juice while the other group drank a placebo. Researchers believe the nitrate present in beetroot juice is the effect of lowering blood pressure. In the human body, nitrate will help stretch the blood vessels and blood flow, as reported by the Daily Health Post (30/01).
Within four weeks of drinking beetroot juice, the researchers found that participants experienced a decrease in blood pressure more than the participants who drank a placebo. This group also experienced a 20 percent growth in terms of health and decreased risk of heart disease.
If you are among those who have hypertension, it could not hurt to get used to drinking beet juice regularly. Although the fruit is still hard to find in Indonesia, but the benefits are great for blood pressure and heart health.
